Martian Music

Honey coated rays sting our exposed flesh
As we rest underneath the halo
Orb that blinds the eyes of the earth;

Her enjoyable audio clutter
Plays Spanish instruments in my ears
English hops her way
Neither of us understands what the other has to say
We form a smile parade

We tune in only to translate
Words strut past our comprehension
Her whirling hand gestures swing
Like break dancers skidding atop cardboard
Or a homeless bottle rocket launched in a wind cycle

My arms are Rhythm and Blues
Brooming dust from midair;
There’s a lost song here somewhere
Who needs a stereo-
Type to live up to?
She and I speak more than words
