Burnout II

When the flame within is thinning
One wonders “What do I have left?”
In moments of doubt, clouds hide our prideful beginnings
It becomes easy to look down where ground disguises death

The heat from the meat of one’s soul becomes cold
One wallows in thoughts of failure
Telling oneself – “No” – losing focus of self-control
Sometimes “Yes” is the happiest word

“What do I have left?” we ask when a lot is only a little
Notice the beauty neglected in times of discomfort
Triumph is only a stage in the middle
The end is when we bury our nerves

“Be fearless!” – I shall tell all
So that mountains – we must climb – become small
