Chair Island

Down moments are peaceful, sporadic, phases in time
when I can collapse into my chair and allow my elbows to hug the arms
I like to sink deep into the cushion
Imagining my head floating just above the surface
When I spin I envision I’m imprisoned inside a tsunami
handcuffed by the sea sheriff
Yet I breathe easy
My heartbeat is calm as I forget the island that I’m actually on
